Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday December 10, 2003

Alfred George Kraft, (Pop), 87, Born, August 15, 1916, Waukegan, IL, Died December 7, 2003. Do not be saddened by his passing, he left us several years ago, a victim of a terrible disease called Alzheimer's. His family has lived many painful years without this gentle loving man who would not give up and let go, now finally he is at peace. He was a helpmate to his wife of nearly 60 years, and a jack-of-all-trades to his sons teaching them much about mechanics. Al helped his neighbors with starting cars, plumbing tasks and carpentry; for his grandchildren he built Circus Wagon toy boxes. As volunteer and a longtime member of the Lion's Club he drove patients to appointments at the Lion's Eye Institute. Throughout his lifetime he served our country in World War II, and was employed as a machinist, owned his own Service Station and was also letter carrier for the USPS. Alfred was a member of Sandia Presbyterian Church and is survived by his wife June; sons, Glen of Albuquerque, NM; Roger of Tumwater, WA and Karl of Palo Alto, CA; his sister, Adelaide Cycon of Clovis, CA; two half-sisters, Vivian Igoe of Rio Rancho, NM and Winifred French of Dearborn Heights, MI. He leaves six grandchildren, Kraig, Keith, Kerstin of Albuquerque, NM and Kasey, Kamber and Karli of Tumwater, WA. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local Alzheimer's foundation. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2003, at the Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo del Norte, NE, Albuquerque. French Mortuary 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE 823-9400
