Maria Piedad Griego, born on June 30, 1915, went home to be with her Lord on December 6, 2003, following a short illness. Mrs. Griego, whose heart's desire was to serve others, was an inspiration to all who knew her. A graduate of New Mexico Normal (Highlands University); she taught school in numerous Northern New Mexico communities. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Albuquerque. A wonderful, loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by daughters: Helen Ortiz and husband, Gilbert; Jodi Baugh and husband, Kenneth; sister, Annie Encinias; grandchildren: Renee Edwards and husband, Mark; Lisa Ortiz; Gilbert Ortiz, Jr. and wife, Sally; Joseph Ortiz and Beverly Chapman; Mark Aragon and wife Laurie; Steve Baugh; great-grandchildren: Joshua Aragon, Spencer Aragon, and Margaux Ortiz. Mass of Christian burial will be held at the St. Francis Cathedral, 131 Cathedral Place, Santa Fe on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Rosario Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Carmelite Nuns, 49 Mount Camel Rd., Santa Fe, NM 87505. Arrangements are under the direction of Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 1399 Luisa Street, 984-8600.
