Marilyn Ruth Salas passed away unexpectedly November 26, 2003 in Lubbock, TX. She was born in Norman, OK on January 26, 1958 and moved to Albuquerque at an early age. She worked at local hospitals as a nurse-midwife and had earned her Associate, Bachelors, and Masters degrees in nursing at the University of New Mexico. She was twice chosen as nurse of the year while at the University of New Mexico hospital. She was one of only two students in the United States selected for the 'National Congressional Fellowship of Women in Public Health Policy' and spent a year working in Washington, D.C. Marilyn is survived by her father, Jack Meloy of Albuquerque; mother, Ann Ward of Levelland, TX; brother, Bruce Meloy and family of Irvine, CA; two daughters, Stephanie Salas of Guilford, CT., and Angela Brown and husband, Jerry of Okinawa, Japan; son, Aaron Salas of Albuquerque; and two grandchildren. A Memorial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2003 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE followed by a reception for family and friends from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the German American Club, 4821 Menaul Blvd. NE.
