Obituary for GAUNA

Mary Ann Gauna, a resident of Albuquerque and one of the longest living kidney transplant recipients, died Monday, December 1, 2003. Her kidney was donated by her brother, Roy in 1968. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert "Ted" Gauna; son, Stephen W. Gauna and wife Alisa of Albuquerque; daughter, Sandy Rodriquez and husband Chris of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Justin, Jarred, Jordan, Shannia, Shyanne, and Selysia; brothers, Roy Maldonado of Belen, NM, Raymond Maldonado and wife Anita of Maljamar, NM, Martin Maldonado of California, Jessee Maldonado of Texas, and Adolph Maldonado and wife Erma of Ruidoso, NM; sisters, Frances Lopez of LaMesa, TX, Elizabeth Gonzales of Llano, TX, Cora DeLeon of Hobbs, NM, and Julia Villareal of Ballinger, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her mother, Andrea Maldonado in February 2002. She was born in Miniature, Nebraska. Mary Ann moved to Hobbs, NM when she was a child, where she lived all of her life until illness forced her to move to Albuquerque 12 years ago. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be missed deeply by all who knew her. Services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at Iglesia Bautista Betesda, 501 N. Burk, Hobbs, NM with Rev. Eliores Barrios officiating. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Memory Gardens in Hobbs, NM. A memorial service will be held in Albuquerque at a later date.
