Obituary for DARSEY

David Michael Darsey, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer on Saturday, November 29, 2003. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife, Judy Darsey; son, John Darsey of Fayetteville, NC; daughter, Karen Monteleone and husband, Brent of Houston, TX; mother Oleta Darsey of Midland, TX; sister, Linda Lusk and husband, Doug of Kerrville, TX; nine grandchildren; nephew, Jeffrey Lusk; and niece, Suzanne Miles. David graduated from Midland High School in Midland, TX in 1961 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas in 1965 and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico in 1967. He was a member of professional societies IEEE, Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu. Upon graduation from the University of Texas, David was employed by Sandia National Laboratories and enjoyed his work until his retirement in 1998. He became department manager in 1978, and worked in a variety of departments including computer graphics, security, and digital systems development. He designed the master plan for the Solar Tower Facility. Upon retirement, he and Judy enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. David was an active member of Highland Baptist Church and later Eastern Hills Baptist Church. He began teaching Sunday School in 1968 and other than a 2-year hiatus, taught until the week of his death. He was ordained as a deacon at Highland Baptist in 1968. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Wednesday, December 3, 2003, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 4, 2003, 10:00 a.m., at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3300 Morris NE. Cremation will follow services. Graveside services will be held in Midland, TX at a later date.
