Obituary for MCGEHEE

Virginia W. McGehee, 88, of Germantown, MD, formerly of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died peacefully on the morning of November 14, 2003. She was born Mary Virginia Weinebrod, to Charles and Edna Weinebrod on February 27, 1915 in Blue Island, IL. In Blue Island, she graduated from High School and met her husband of 64 years, George B. McGehee who worked for the Commonwealth Edison Company. When George retired, they moved to Albuquerque, NM, where they resided for almost 30 years. She loved Albuquerque for its climate, varied cultures, southwestern food, State Fair and Balloon Fiesta. She was foremost a loving mother and homemaker, who took great pleasure in decorating her home with many antiques, cooking fabulous meals, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a very social out-going person, who loved playing bridge and belonged to many clubs and organizations. She is survived by a son, Dr. James A. McGehee and his fiance, Jane Rooney of Gaithersburg, MD; daughter, Cheryl King and her husband, J. Daniel King, of Los Alamos, NM; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. A simple Memorial Service was held in the Chapel at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church, 3900 Trinity Dr., Los Alamos, on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
