Obituary for SANCHEZ

Ray R. Sanchez, age 47, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away on Monday, November 10, 2003, in his sleep at home. He is preceded in death by his father Refugio Ray Sanchez, Jr. He is survived by his mother, Nora A. Sanchez; three sisters, Linda Martinez, Rita Cordova and husband, Joe and Judy Sanchez-Torres; six nieces and nephews, Albert Martinez, Jr. and wife, Jessica, Elaine Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Christine Martinez, Adrian Cordova and Patrick Ray Sanchez-Torres; five great-nieces and nephews, Alysia Martinez, Nicole Pinge, Albert "Berto" Martinez, III, Angelique Martinez and Gabrielle Martinez; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was a 1975 graduate of Highland High School and attended TVI and UNM. On June 1, 1989 he began working for Albuquerque Police Department Records Division as a lead clerk; from there he transferred in October 1993 to the Communication Division as a 911 operator and currently was working in the CAD's Unit at the APD Communication Division. After his father's passing in 1983, Ray assumed responsibility as the head of his family with the honor and love that he showed towards his mother and sisters. He was a wonderful godfather, mentor and example for his nephews and nieces. Ray will live in our hearts forever. Rosary will be recited Friday, November 14, 2003, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd., NE. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 15, 2003, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. 4020 Lomas Blvd., NE. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Albert Martinez, Jr., Matthew Martinez, Adrian Cordova, Joe Cordova, Albert Martinez, Sr. and J. J. Ornelas; also his nieces and nephews Patrick Ray Sanchez-Torres, Albert "Berto" Martinez, III, Angelique Martinez, Alysia Martinez, Nicole Pinge and Gabrielle Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Pinge, Phillip Armijo, Manuel Silva, Richard Durand, Rick Armijo, Roy Chavez, Jerry Garcia, Keith Hesser, Chris Armijo and Anthony Simoes. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Thursday, November 13, 2003, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, November 14, 2003, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 275-3500
