Catherine Chiles Thornton died Thursday, October 16, 2003 at the age of 89. She is survived by her sister, Helen Hill of Albuquerque; nephew, Larry Beede; grandniece, Shayne Beede; great-grandnephew, Ivan Beede Auer in Massachusetts and grandnephew, Robert Beede of Washington, DC. Catherine was a resident of Albuquerque through her high school and college years, graduating from the University of New Mexico. Following college she worked for a number of years for the WPA and the American Red Cross before marrying Julian Roy Thornton (deceased) and following him in his military career to many places throughout the world. Following his death she returned to Albuquerque, and at the time of her death was a resident of Vista del Rio. A memorial service will be held in Colorado Springs at a later date.
