Obituary for DEARNLEY

Ada Dearnley, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on October 18, 2003 at her home. Ada was born in England on January 9, 1916 to Walter and Emily Harrison Dearnley. Ada was very athletic in her high school years in track, tennis, golf and participating in many other sporting events. Ada came to Albuquerque from Kansas City, MO in 1948. She was a court reporter and was renowned for establishing the first court reporting service in New Mexico which grew and developed into Dearnley-Meier and Associates in 1955. Prior to retirement, Ada was a Federal District Court reporter under the Honorable Judge Edwin L. Mechem. She was an avid reader and was known for always having a book in her hands. Ada was a member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church in Rio Rancho where she was very faithful and taught Sunday school for many years. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Ada was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her brother Eric. She is survived by her sister Anne Lowry and husband William; several nieces and nephews; and her very special friend and sister in the Lord, Marianna Meier A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gospel Light Baptist Church in Rio Rancho with Pastor Brent Lenentine as officiant.
