Obituary for CARPENTER

Carl S. Carpenter, 87, a resident of Belen, New Mexico and formerly of Bosque Farms, New Mexico passed away in an Albuquerque hospital on Thursday October 9, 2003. Carl was a member of the Catholic Church and a long time member of the Elks Lodge, #2499. Carl founded C. C. School and Church Equipment, Inc. in 1981, now known as School Equipment, Inc., retiring in 1985. Carl was an avid gardener and was well known for his lush gardens that he grew every year. He loved the outdoors and loved fishing. Many times Carl and his friends would go for drives to see and be in the great outdoors. The Jemez Mountains and the Valle Grande in Northern New Mexico were very dear to him and he would go there just for the majestic feeling he would get when he was there. He also loved seeing all the wildlife the mountains would present to him and his friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia in 1998; and his parents, John and Kathryn Carpenter. He is survived by two sons, Bob Caldwell and his wife, Patti of Akron, Ohio, and Rick Caldwell and his wife, Jenie of Los Alamitos, California; one brother, John L. Carpenter and his wife, Helen of Bethany, Oklahoma; his grandchildren and many other family members. Carl is also survived by his loving caregiver, Lucille Moyers-Hodge of Belen, New Mexico and his very close friends and neighbors, Gary "Sonny" McNabb and his wife, Lillie of Bosque Farms, New Mexico. Carl was such a people person that many loving and dear friends also survive him. Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Terrace Grove Cemetery, with his loving caregiver, Lucille Moyers-Hodge officiating and Linda Julian singing some of Carl's favorite hymns. Pallbearers will be his two sons, Bob and Rick Caldwell; one brother, John Caldwell; Lorenzo Moreno, Gary and Lillie McNabb, Carl Allen, and Tammy Huerena. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N.
