Joe Paul Montoya, 26 years old, went home to be with our Lord on September 17, 2003. Mr. Montoya was born and raised in Albuquerque, but currently resided in Phoenix, AZ. We will all miss Joe's sweet smile and the way he always made us laugh. Joe is survived by his loving companion, Veronica Acosta and their 13-month-old daughter, Elizabeth Jessica Montoya. Also surviving him are his mother, Laura Padilla; step-father, Anthony Padilla; grandmother, Gina Escalante; one brother, Daniel Padilla and wife, Lynette; three nephews, Isaiah Garcia, Daniel Padilla and Dominic Jerome Padilla; one niece, Isis McGarvey; one aunt, Cathy Lucero and husband, Tony; and one cousin, Joshua Lucero. Pall bearers will be Anthony Smith, Estevan Cordova, Chris Cordova, Tony Lucero, Derek Romero, and Felipe Padilla. Funeral Services will be conducted at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE at 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 22, 2003 by Pastor Cookie Leonardelli. Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 23, 2003 10:00 a.m. at Strong Thorne and burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd. SE.
