Obituary for SANGUINETTI

Mario J. Sanguinetti, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960, died unexpectedly from a massive stroke at the age of 80 on Sunday, September 14, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Clara; two sons, Mario and wife Maria, and Chris and wife Sheryl; and six grandchildren. Mr. Sanguinetti was born to Italian immigrants in San Francisco, CA. At the age of 14, Mr. Sanguinetti was writing a sports column for the local paper San Francisco. He went on to graduate from St. Mary's College in Oakland, CA, Marquette University, and Columbia University. Mr. Sanguinetti served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and later transferred to the U.S. Army Air Corps. He became a member of the U.S. Navel Reserve unit in Albuquerque from which he retired as Chief Journalist in 1983. He worked at Sandia Labs, the New Mexico State Government, and was a restaurant owner for the House of Omellettes. Mr. Sanguinetti loved baseball and helped promote Babe Ruth baseball in Albuquerque. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, September 18, 2003, 9:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE, with Father William McCarren, Celebrant and Deacon Byron Wicker assisting.
