Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday July 10, 1998

SEAN THOMAS SMITH, 16, ELDORADO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT, and a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, was taken on Tuesday, June 7, 1998. He is survived by his parents, Denise Dapolito and Timothy Smith; sister, Julianna Whipple; grandparents, Fred and Betty Whipple, and Nadine Scovil, all of Albuquerque; best friend and cousin, Richard Carlson of Heber, AZ; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his good friend, Joseph Romero of Albuquerque. Sean was entering his sophomore year at Eldorado High School and belonged to the YMCA. He cared nothing more than shooting hoops with his uncle. He had a passion for mountain biking and loved football and basketball. Sean loved animals and had a special way with them. His family called him Dr. Doolittle. His fondest wish was to be a veterinarian. He was a very genuine person who deeply cared for people who had less than him. He had the heart of a lion and a very gentle spirit. Sean knew Jesus and loved God with all of his heart. Private disposition will take place. The family wishes that those who desire, make contributions of love and time towards educating children of the hazards of biking in the city and to the redesign of the intersection of Tomasita and Lomas Blvd. NE. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.
