Obituary for Giessen

Hazel Giessen, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Alvin Giessen of the family home; daughters, Melba Anita Tugwell and husband, Jack of Albuquerque and Ima Mozelle Vermillion of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Vickie Sue McCullough and husband, Tom, Michael Vermillion and wife, Ruth, Patricia Hackney and husband, Ron, Gayle Ruszanuk and husband, Rick, Connie Feery, Jack Tugwell, and Dennis Tugwell; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Howard Buchanan and wife, Lahoma of Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jerome Kelver Conoley, who passed away in 1976 and her infant daughter, Norma Ruth. She was a member of Del Norte Baptist Church. Mrs. Giessen was very involved in Palo Duro Senior Center and Bear Canyon Senior Center. She enjoyed participating in singing groups at both places. Hazel was a past member of the group Sweet Adelines. Services will be held Saturday, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Alan Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Vermillion, Jack Tugwell, Dennis Tugwell, Jeff Vermillion, Brian Vermillion and James Feery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
