Obituary for Snider

Rita Merle Snider, 72, of Bosque Farms, NM, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 1998 in an Albuquerque hospital. She was born July 27, 1925 in Mexia, Texas to Warney and Ethel Gilliand West of whom have preceded her in death. Rita was raised in Lincoln County near Capitan, she later moved to Scholle with the family, graduating from the Mountainair High School. During WWII she worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. Moving to Santa Fe, she was employed at the Telephone Company, she had also worked with I.C.X. Trucking while living in Albuquerque. After her retirement from the trucking company she helped her husabnd, Andy, with the feed stores and Spear Cross Ranch in Tijeras and Bosque Farms, they made a good pair."Take a deep seat and a short rein, Rita, and enjoy the ride." She married Andrew Neal Snider on February 10, 1967 in Albuquerque, he preceded her in death in 1997. She is survived by son, James Marshall Patty of Tishomingo, MS; step-sons, Neal Snider of Bosque Farms, Kenneth Dillon of Albuquerque; step-daughters, Debbie Snider of Hedgesville, WV, Erin Marable of Watrous, NM; sister, Juanell Henderson and husband, Kenneth of Ft. Collins, CO; son-in-law, Dennis Sayotovich of Ft. Collins, CO; brothers-in-law, John Snider and wife, Shirley, Earnest Snider and wife, Etta, all of Pen Rose, CO, Jerry Snider and wife, Avona of Albuquerque; sisters-in-law, Alma Allen of Des Moines, NM, Hada Templeton and husband, James of Hendersonville, TN, and Phyllis Snider of Albuquerque; grandsons, Chance and wife, Melissa Snider, J.T. Sayotovich of Fort Collins, CO, Mark John, Andy Jack and wife, Lisa of Bosque Farms, Christopher Snider of Emmitsburg, MD; great-grandson, Andrew of Bosque Farms; cousins, Jettie Sullinger of Mountainair, Linda and Hollis Bynum of Alamogordo, NM, and Velma Trout of Los Lunas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 1998 at the Harris-Hanlon Chapel of the Cedars in Mountainair with Reverend Don Hayhurst officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountainair Cemetery with Delbert Autry, Bob Davis, Ryan Davis, Frank Metzler, Celso Sanchez and Randal Davis serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Ben and Sue Gardner, Jerry Gardner, Judy Davis and John Poore. Arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, 847-2331.
