Obituary for Williams

Roy Eldon Williams, Sr., 77, a lifelong resident of Moriarty, passed away Monday, December 28, 1998 in Albuquerque. Roy was born February 19, 1921 to John B. and Maggie (Cullers) Williams in Moriarty, NM. Roy married Mary Jane Winn July 6, 1940 in Las Vegas, NM, she preceded him in death May 6, 1993. Roy's family homesteaded in the Estancia Valley, they thought of moving, but they loved the Estancia Valley. He served in the Army during World War II. Roy was a rancher in the Moriarty area for over 50 years, and was a member of the American Legion in Moriarty, and he was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Moriarty. Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Eldon Williams, Jr. of Moriarty, NM and Joe Tim and Alice of Deming, NM; one daughter and son-in-law, Nixie and Phil Clark of Estancia; two brothers and sister-in-law, Lloyd M. Williams of Moriarty, NM and Dan L. and Jean Williams of Moriarty, NM; one sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Lewis O'Neal of Moriarty, NM; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 31, 1998, 10:00 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Moriarty, with R.A. Long officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery in Moriarty, NM with his grandsons serving as pallbearers, Madison Clark, Derek Clark, John Williams, Joe Dan Williams, Jay Travis Williams and Roy Eldon Williams III. Honorary pallbearers will be Ira Williams, JC Alderson, Ed Scott, Dwayne Luce, Ray Halderman, and LeRoy Griego. Arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM. .DMP
