Obituary for Hendricks

Robert Early Hendricks, resident of Albuquerque for 54 years, born August 24, 1911 in Newport, TN, passed away October 7, 1998. He was the son of the late Dr. Walter Scott Hendricks and May Early Hendricks. He was preceded in death by two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Leigh Bittick Hendricks of the family home for 45 years; two brothers, Walter Henderson Hendricks of Abingdon, VA and Evan Scott Hendricks and wife, Mary of Huntsville, AL; two sisters, Elizabeth Crow of Elizabethton, TN, Lillian Lyles and husband, Dr. Albert Lyles of Charlotte, NC; several nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. He was employed by Delta Airlines of Monroe, LA and was an Air Route Traffic Controller in Cleveland, OH, Cincinatti, OH and Albuquerque. He later was an Engineer at Sandia National Laboratories. Mr. Hendricks was a member of Central United Methodist Church, the Sons of the American Revolution, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Military Order of the Stars and Bars, and the Zia Sun Dial Clock Club. A family memorial service will be held at a later date in Adingdon, VA. Interment of the cremains will be at Holston Conference Cemetery of the United Methodist Church in Emory, VA. Those who desire, may make a memorial contribution to the Central United Methodist Church in Albuquerque or to the Animal Humane Association. Cremation services were performed by the Sunrise Society, 891-8200.
