Obituary for Panagakos

Marilyn Joan Panagakos, 68, died October 7, 1998 in Albuquerque. She was born January 12, 1930 in Cleveland, OH, to Edward and Neva Smith Uhl. She was a resident of Albuquerque for 38 years. As an active member of the Republican Party, she co-chaired the presidential campaign of Barry Goldwater in Bernalillo County in 1964 and also worked for the party after the campaign. She served as the Director of Collections for the New Mexico Bureau of Revenue-Bernalillo County Region, and also owned and operated Encore Clothing. She retired from Modrall Law Firm as a legal assistant in 1997. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Anthony Panagakos of Albuquerque; a daughter, Koren L. Walston and her husband, Kenneth of Albuquerque; a son, Peter Edward Panagakos and wife, DeDe of Rio Rancho; two brothers, Raymond Uhl and wife, Lee of Ohio and Edward Uhl, Jr. and wife, Jeanette of Wisconsin; and two grandchildren, Lindsay Ann and Brandon Anthony Panagakos. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 1998 in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association of New Mexico, 216 Truman NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, in charge of arrangements.
