Obituary for Webster

Walter Arthur Webster, 74, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died on Tuesday, October 6, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Joy Webster of the family home; brother, William Webster and wife, Bee of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Elaine Morrish and husband, Sid of Albuquerque; nieces, Kimberly Wynn and husband, Dallas of Tucson, AZ and Mary Morrish of Bonney Lake, WA; nephews, Jim Webster and wife, Kathy of Fayetteville, AK, Bill Webster and wife, Lisa of Albuquerque and Tom Morrish and wife, Ruth of Silver City, NM. Mr. Webster was born on Saturday, March 29, 1924, and was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, class of 1943. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Marines for three years in the Pacific. He was involved in the invasions of Tarowa, Iwo Jima, and was wounded in the invasion of Saipan for which he was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award. After the war, he attended the University of New Mexico where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. Most of his career was spent at Leedskill-Herkernhoff. He was instrumental in automating the water system for the City of Albuquerque. Mr. Webster was a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and American Consulting Engineers Council. He was a member of the American Legion Post #7 in Tucson, AZ, the D.A.V. Cutting Garcia Chapter #3 in Albuquerque, and the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He enjoyed golfing at the Albuquerque Country Club. He was affiliated with St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Services will be held Saturday, October 10, 1998, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Ken Moore officiating. Interment will take place Saturday, October 10, 1998, 10:00 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
