Obituary for Sovich

Steve Sovich, born October 1, 1920 in Gary, IN, to Nicklas and Anna Sovich, passed away August 20, 1998. He attended Lew Wallace High School and worked for Strack and Vantil Supermarket in Hammond, IN from 1958 until his retirement in 1981. Following retirement, he moved to Mesa, AZ in 1982, and Albuquerque in 1992. He is survived by Pauline, his wife of 58 years; his daughter, Marlene Balder and hsuband, Allen; grandchildren, Melissa, Kevin, and wife, Kristi, and Jason; great-grandchildren, Michael and Allison; his brothers, Mike Sovich and wife, Gerry, Nick Sovich, and George Sovich and wife, Carolyn; as well as numerous nieces and nepheews. Steve was preceded in death by his son, Charles Sovich, his brothers John and Andrew Sovich, and his sister, Jean Stanley. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Parish in Paradise Hills and Los Volcanos Senior Center. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 24, at St. Jude's Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW. Following cremation interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. In lieu of flowers, masses would be appreciated. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Sunrise Society, (891-8200).
