Obituary for Ronan

Martin Miller Ronan, 73, passed away at his home on Monday, August 10, 1998. He is survived by his second wife of 18 years, Ruth Bircher Ronan; three sons, Christopher Wood Ronan of Toledo, OH, Douglas Martin Ronan and wife, Donna of Grand Junction, CO, and James Michael Ronan and wife, Laura of Boulder, CO; brother, Keith Ronan and wife, Dolores of South Haven, MI; and grandchildren, Jenna, Ryan, Timothy, Zachary, Kieran, Ian, and Rebecca. Martin was born August 22, 1924 in Hampton, VA, but lived most of his life in or near Marshall, MI. He moved to Albuquerque in 1977 with his first wife, Mary Ann Wood, who died in 1979. In 1943, Martin enlisted in the Army, where he served for 2 3/ 4 years, including two months in combat in Belgium and Germany during the"Battle of the Bulge", then with the occupation forces in Germany following the war. He attended Albion College and Michigan State, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Martin worked in the family metal goods business while in Marshall, serving the last nine years as President. The company sold in 1974, Martin entered the map business at that time and continued until the family moved. He re-entered that industry in 1981, producing Highroad Maps of New Mexico. He joined the International Map Trade Association in 1989. Martin was a member of the Rotary Club in Marshall and the Del Norte Rotary Club in Albuquerque. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Albuquerque. Memorial services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Faith Lutheran Church, 10000 Spain NE, with Rev. Russell Sorensen officiating. Interment of cremains will take place in Marshall, MI. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution be made to either the Rotary Club of Albuquerque-Del Norte Foundation, P.O.
