Bob Appleton, former Albuquerque resident, passed away on Monday, September 7 at Flagstaff Memorial Hospital in Flagstaff, AZ as a result of cancer. Robert Lewis Appleton, son of Leonard and Peggy Appleton, was born on December 21, 1944. He graduated from Deming High School and the University of New Mexico. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he worked for the Social Security Administration in Albuquerque and in Show Low, AZ. Bob is survived by his wife, Paula of Pinetop, AZ; son, Jake and his wife, Annie of Show Low; and his mother, Peggy Appleton of Albuquerque. Other survivors include his sister, Suzie Clark and husband, Rod of Albuquerque; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a family memorial celebration is pending. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
