Obituary for Hulm

Virginia"Jean" Mary Hulm, 62, Bismarck, ND, died Monday, May 18, 198 at St. Alexius Hospital. A memorial service is set for 12:00 noon, Friday, May 22, 1998 at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit with Rev. Thomas Richter, officiating. Jean was born February 13, 1936 in Mandan to Joseph Boehm and Susan Boehm-McGuire. She was a graduate of Mandan High School and took several accounting courses at Bismarck Junior College. In addition, she took part in classes and discussion groups in Bismarck and Albuquerque, to satisfy her inquisitive and artistic nature. Jean retired in 1997 from Border States Electric, after being diagnosed with cancer. In her 16 years with the company, Jean held various positions, including Lighting Consultant, Light House Manager, and Sales Representative in offices in Bismarck, Fargo, and Albuquerque. She was a highly dedicated employee and well respected member of the Boarder States Electric Co. Jean will be remembered for her love of music and creative talents. Family and friends will always know her as a gracious hostess, holding parties for small and large gatherings which included Jean playing guitar, group sing-a-longs, and plenty of good food. Several individuals are blessed to have her art work, mostly oil paintings, which were created with love and enthusiasm. She will be dearly missed by her children, extended family, and countless friends. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Susan and Glen Grad, Lincoln, Janet Hulm, Yellow Springs, OH; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Jerome and Eva Hulm, Mill Creek, WA, Thomas Hulm, Grand Forks, David Hulm, Iowa City, IA; one aunt, Eva Karis, Mandan; step-father, Gerard McGuire, Green Valley, AZ; two sisters, Joyce Boehm, Bismarck, Linda Ziegler, Sioux Falls; one sister-in-law, Pam Boehm, Olympia, WA; and five grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her father, mother; and a brother, Jerry Boehm. Arrangements by Perry Funeral Home, Box 1643, Bismarck, ND 58502.
