Jesus A. Romero, 77, of Rio Rancho and Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at his home in Rio Rancho on May 20, 1998. In January, 1996, Jesus put to rest his loving wife of 57 years, Lu G. Romero. Jesus was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Mendoza of Los Angeles, CA; and more recently by his brother, Joe S. Romero of Las Vegas, NV. Jesus was the oldest of four children, born to Mares Pacias and Luis Romero. At a young age he began to work in a bakery, a career which would span over 60 years. He served proudly in the Navy during WWII as a baker on a troop transport. Jesus and Lu raised five children and helped raise two grandchildren. He often worked long hours at two or three different jobs to provide for his family. Jesus was a devout Roman Catholic and a Parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. A self-taught guitarist, Jesus was proud of being a member of the Spanish Choir and shared his love for God and everyone with his musical praise. Jesus had an unconditional love for his family and always devoted individual attention to all his children. All of us will miss his hugs and our memories will be of a faithful servant of God and a loving father who always went the extra mile for his children. Jesus is survived by his brother, Horacio Romero and wife, Lydia; by brother-in-law, Tony Gurule and wife, Geri; children, Barbara Romero and companion, Raymond Patterson, Patricia La Motte and husband, Gary, Diane Jaramillo and husband, Ted, Paul Romero and companion, Angela Felter, Susan Garduno and husband, Joe A. Sr., Edward Alderete Sr. and wife, Jeannette, Michelle Molina and husband, Ernest. Jesus is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; the many that he claimed as his own, and those who knew him. Services will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd., in Rio Rancho. A Rosary will be held on Sunday, May 24, 1998 at 7:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service on Monday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m. A private distribution of the crematorial remains will be held at Vista Verde Rose Garden at a later time.
