Obituary for Newlander

Willet O. (Bill) Newlander, M.D. of Dunwoody, GA, died April 17, 1998. A native of Albuquerque, he was born April 19, 1922, the son of Otto Joseph and Lelia Bordenave Newlander. Dr. Newlander had one sister, Hilda Newlander Bambrook, now deceased. He entered the Army Air Force during World War II, serving as a B-24 pilot. He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School and was Chief Surgical Resident at the University of Michigan Hospital. Dr. Newlander served as Medical Director for RCA at Thule, Greenland, Range Medical Director for Pan Am on the South Atlantic Missile Range, and Medical Director at the AT&T plant in Little Rock, AR. He is survived by his son, Craig G. Newlander Gombolay, daughter-in-law, Lauren; two grandchildren, Matthew and Alli of Dunwoody; and daughter, Leslie Newlander of Okemos, MI. Funeral services 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning at Arlington Chapel. Interment at Arlington Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs, 404-851-9900.
