Rosary Services for longtime Vaughn, NM resident, Mrs. Guadalupe Tapia will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 1998 from St. Mary's Parish in Vaughn, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the church at 12:00 noon on Monday, December 14, 1998 with Father Patrick Duffy, Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Vaughn, NM. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Luis Castillo, Lefonso Castillo, Lorenzo Castillo Jr., Antonio Gallegos, Lucas Tapia, Ramon Tapia and Miguel Gallegos. Honorary Bearers will be Andres Gallegos, Michael Tapia, Edward Tapia and Eric Tapia. Mrs. Tapia, age 81, was born December 24, 1916 in Los Rincones, NM the daughter of Andres and Octiviana Larranaga Pena. She attended and graduated from High School at Encino, NM. She married Cipriano Tapia on August 18, 1940. They made their home at Vaughn, NM following their marriage. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Parish in Vaughn. Mrs. Tapia was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Cipriano Pena; and a sister, Carolina Tenorio. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Cipriano Tapia of the home in Vaughn, NM; two sons, Cipriano E. and wife, Linda Tapia of Commerce City, Colorado, Dennis Tapia of Vaughn, NM; three daughters, Lilia Gallegos and husband, Tony, Floraida Tapia, Linda Castillo and husband, Lorenzo all of Vaughn, NM; and a grandson she raised, Luis Castillo of Vaughn, NM; four sisters, Rita Romero and husband, Joe, Brigida Felix and husband, Juan, all of Encino, NM, Helen Garcia and husband, Tony of Vaughn, NM, Carmen Montano and husband, Ben of Santa Fe, NM; two brothers, Albert Pena and wife, Elvira of Los Lunas, NM, Andres Pena and wife, Mercedes of Albuquerque, NM; a brother-in-law, Gilbert Tenorio of Encino, NM; sisters-in-law, Agapita Pena of Moriarty, NM, Annie Tapia of Vaughn, NM and Carmen Drager of Topeka, Kansas. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening beginning at 5:00 p.m. until the time of the Rosary from St. Mary's Church in Vaughn. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
