Obituary for Curtis

Russell William Curtis, 63, a resident of Albuquerque for 30 years, died Saturday, June 13, 1998. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Teruko Curtis and Kacy Marie Curtis of Albuquerque and his mother, Alice Hilton of Zanesville, OH. Mr. Curtis retired from the U.S. Marine Corps with the rank of Master Sargent. He served in Korea and Vietnam and received the Navy Cross, Good Conduct, National Defense Service, Bronze Star, Vietnam Service, two Purple Hearts, and Vietnam Campaign medals, as well as the Rifle Sharpshooter and Pistol Sharpshooter badges. Mr. Curtis was a member of Montford Point Marine Association. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Corrections from the University of Albuquerque in 1975 and a Master of Arts in Public Administration from the University of New Mexico in 1976. He retired from Sandia National Laboratories after 20 years of service. Services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary - Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Reverend Patricia Walker of Carlisle Plaza United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation will follow services with interment of cremains at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later time.
