Obituary for Garcia

Mr. Eli C. Garcia, 73, a resident of Milan, NM, passed away on June 10, 1998. Mr. Garcia is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Julia M. Garcia; two sons, Rudy E. Garcia and wife, Diana and Rodney C. Garcia and wife Patsy; one sister, Mary Jane Valdez; two brothers, James D. Garcia and wife, Viola and Gabe G. Garcia and wife, Polly; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Garcia; sisters-in-law, Marie Garcia, Helen Garcia and Lucy Garcia; three grandsons, Shaun, Marco and Randy; five granddaughters, Charmayne, Brianne, Roselia, Monica and Melanie. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by son, Randy Garcia in 1982. Mr. Garcia was a member of the Catholic Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII, an educator and principal for the Grants Public School system and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Visitations will be Sunday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. from 2p.m. until 3p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 3p.m. by Deacon Pat Santistevan. Final visitation will be Monday morning in the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church, 5415 Fortuna NW from 8:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9 a.m. Father Bill Day, Celebrant. Committal service will be Monday at 12 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery Pallbearers will be Alfred Treadmill, Joe D. Garcia, Jerry Garcia, Austin Glover, Leroy Maes and John Gurule. Honorary Pallbearers will be all his students from the past 41 years. Gabaldon Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
