Thelma L. Oakes, age 67, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 2, 1998 at a local hospital. She is survived by her husband, Roy R. Oakes; sons, Michael R. Oakes and wife, Lori of Yorktown, VA, John F. Oakes and wife, Nancy of Albuquerque; mother, Thelma Davis of Albuquerque; sister, Gail Saul of Dallas, TX; three grandchildren, Stephanie Lorraine Oakes, Kelly Michelle Oakes and Caleb Oakes. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 6, 1998, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 7, 1998 at Risen Savior Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. with Father Baca as Celebrant. Richard L. Payne, Gordon Goddard, Ralph Strothers, John Bachechi, Richard Peterson, Daniel Kornberg will serve as pallbearers. Pat Walsh, Gary McCoy, Noah Kronberg, James Doyle, Warren Hitchcock, Tommy Dukes and Leo Collins will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE, in charge of arrangements.
