Joe C. Torres, 84, passed away at his home December 1, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Guadalupe Torres; one daughter, Rachel Chowaniec of Parsippany, NJ; two grandsons, Joseph Anthony Chowaniec of Tempe, AZ; and one great-grandson. Also surviving are his sisters, Anita Barrera and Carolina Torres of Corpus Christi, TX and Beatrice Zepata of Lafayette, LA. Mr. Torres worked for Gardenschwartz Sports Store and was manager of Levines Department Store, finally retiring in the early 1990s. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, December 7 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church at 9:00 a.m. Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation, Quality Continuum Hospice Fund, P.O.
