Obituary for Rudroff

Virginia F. Rudroff went to eternal rest on Tuesday, December 1, 1998. She was born the daughter of Frank and Emilia Zimmerman Priest on February 22, 1910 in Brooklyn, New York. Virginia spent a long career as a telephone operator for the New York Bell, AT & T, and in the Hotel industry in New York City. On retirement in 1970, she and her husband moved to New Mexico where she worked tirelessly in making Ojo de Dios creations for charitable fund raising activities. In 1974, she was honored as a recipient of the St. Joseph Hospital Good Samaritan Award for outstanding devotion to fellow citizens in need and for exemplary conduct which served as an inspiration to friends, constituents and family. In 1985, Virginia moved to Rio Rancho where she made many new friends at Holiday Park where she resided for many years. In July 1998, she moved to Arizona with her daughter to be closer to family. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; son, Richard; and daughter, Virginia Capobianco. Surviving family includes her daughter, Joyce Karkkainen of Arizona; brother, Edward Priest of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, John Karkkainen, Jr. of Texas, Robert Kryeski of California, Anne Swanson and husband, Al of Arizona, and Kerri Mascarenas and husband, Ray of New Mexico; great-grandchildren, Danielle Karkkainen and Geoffrey Swanson; son-in-law, Louis Capolianco of New Mexico; Godchildren, Denise Lagrega of Florida and Carol Healy of Arizona; and a dear niece, Martha Scott of New York. A visitation will be held today, Thursday, December 3, 1998, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and this evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, December 4, 1998, 10:00 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho with the Rev. Stephen Skelly as the Celebrant. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary.
