Obituary for Whitford

Barry Lynn Whitford, Sr., a post-casualty of the Vietnam War, was born July 19, 1953 in Quantico, VA, the son of Herschal E. Whitford and Norma Jean Jackson Whitford. He died suddenly, Sunday, December 12, 1999 in Bernalillo County, NM. Barry grew up in Sullivan, MO, where he was an active member of Temple Baptist Church, married Paula Marie Bolin and had a son, Barry Lynn Whitford Jr. He was a member of the 105th Airborne Division in Vietnam, serving as one of very few jump medics during that war. He later worked in various hospitals in Albuquerque as a Medical Technician. At the time of his death, he was a diesel mechanic in Tijeras. Barry married Paula Ann Jones in Albuquerque in 1977 and they had a son, Casey Lynn Whitford. Barry was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Jackson Whitford in Sullivan, MO. He is survived by his sons, Barry Lynn Whitford Jr. and wife, Lana of Sullivan, MO and Casey Lynn Whitford of Albuquerque; father, Herschal E. Whitford and step-mother, Carolyn St. Gemme Whitford of Albuquerque; brothers, Wade E. Whitford and wife, Theresa and family of Rolla, MO and Joe Whitford of Albuquerque; step-brother, Tim Smith of Albuquerque; and aunts and uncles, including Madge Whitford Holland of Princeton, KY, Ruth Whitford Goodaker of Albuquerque, W.L. and Rosielle Whitford of Providence, KY and Willis and Shirley Whitford of Sullivan, MO. He will be missed by many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, 5:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Bro. Si Budagher of First Baptist Church, Rio Rancho officiating. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
