Obituary for Shoden

John C. Shoden, 76, passed away at his daughter's home in Albuquerque on November 27, 1999. Mr. Shoden was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan in 1922, the first child of Louella and Clarence Shoden. He enlisted in the Marine Corps as a combat aviator and served with honor and distinction during World War II and the Korean Conflict. After the war, he completed his college studies at the University of Maryland. Fro 1964 to 1967, the Navy appointed him to the post of Assistant Naval Attache in Bonn, Germany. He retired from military service in 1967 in the rank of Lt. Colonel. He later was employed by American Airlines as a flight instructor and engaged in residential contracting prior to moving to Albuquerque in 1987. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jan in 1983; and by a brother, Dick Shoden. Mr. Shoden is survived by two daughters, Melinda Davis and husband, Chip and their children, Lauren, Todd, and Erica, and Rebecca Shoden and husband, Larry Ollason and their children, Steve and Jack; and by a son, John Shoden and wife, Shana and their children, Megan and Katherine. A Memorial service is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 3, 1999, at Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Chaplain Lt. Col. Larry E. Wills, USAF (Ret.) officiating and with eulogy by Hugh Kirkle. Inurnment will be beside his wife in Quantico, VA at a later date.
