Obituary for Padilla

Mr. Sam J. (El Beauty) Padilla died November 28, 1999. He was born August 14, 1905 in the Barrio of San Jose-Albuquerque. Mr. Padilla was a veteran of the U.S.A. Armed Forces. Sammy Boy was the son of Abel and Lupita Padilla and was preceded in death by his brother, Sgt. Gilly Padilla, who died August of this year, and his brother, Tony S. Padilla in 1984. His daughter, Dolores Padilla Rubio died in 1990 in California; her son, Vincent Apodaca died in 1997 and left him three great-grandchildren in California. Mr. Padilla is survived by his daughter, Mary Helen Padilla Phillips of Simi Valley, CA; son-in-law, Eugene Phillips; grandchildren, Jimmy, Scott, Steve and Tim Phillips; granddaughters, Judy Arvizo and Amber Endreoda; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nephew, nieces, and close relatives in Albuquerque, California and Oregon. His body is to be buried in San Jose Cemetery next to his family members. Funeral services for Mr. Padilla will be held on Friday at the San Jose Catholic Church, where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the San Jose Cemetery. A Rosary for Mr. Padilla will be recited on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.
