Obituary for Griego

Mr. Antonio"Tony" M. Griego, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Monday at the age of 90. Mr. Griego was born in Corrales on May 24, 1909. His early youth was spent in Casa Salazar in the Rio Puerco Valley. Later to Corrales and Albuquerque. He enjoyed bingo and was an avid bowler with the Grandmas and Grandpas League at Leisure Bowl, and with the Highland Seniors at Holiday Bowl until he was 87. He was retired from the Santa Fe Railroad. Mr. Griego was preceded in death by his daughters, Lugie Gonzales and husband, Paul, and grandchildren, Dorothy, Steve, Eileen, Matthew, and Chris; daughter, Mary ann Mora and husband, Billy and grandchildren, Ralph, William, Vincent, Mark, Paulette, and Michael; daughter, Virginia Luna and husband, Manuel and grandchildren, Manny, Ancilla, Antonio, and Adrian; daughter-in-law, Betty Griego and grandchildren, Bonnie, Gene, Shirley, and Leonard; and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Griego will be held on Friday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Antonio Luna, Ancilla Luna, Adrian Luna, Steve Gonzales, Paulette Gonzales and Leonard Griego. Honorary pallbearers will be Dorothy Sauceda, Bonnie Maldonado, the grandchildren, and special nephews and nieces from Nevada, Albuquerque and Arizona. A Rosary for Mr. Griego will be recited on Wednesday evening, 7:00 p.m., at the St. Francis Church. Arrangements by the Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.
