Obituary for Nordstrum

Stanley C. NordstrumStanley died November 16, 1999. He was born November 27, 1915 in Humboldt, IA to Olive and Carlton Nordstrum. He graduated from Humboldt High School and attended Iowa State College. He married Marian E. Lovett, March 19, 1936, and they were farmers in Garden Grove, IA until 1965 when they moved to Santa Fe. He became the Buildings and Grounds Superintendent of St. Johns College and he and Sis lived on campus as resident until moving to Albuquerque in 1979. Survivors include his devoted wife, Marian (Sis); and children, Olive (Gussie) Williams and husband, Gary of Mackinaw City, MI, Mary Brooks and husband, Glen of Albuquerque, Bob Nordstrum of Albuquerque, and Doug Nordstrum and wife, Marj of West Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Kevin Williams, Brian and wife, Laurel Williams, Eric Williams, Kristi and husband, Wes Lane, Patrick Nordstrum, Angie and husband, Chad Neiderhauser and Matt Nordstrum. Also surviving him him is his sister, Grace Lovett; sister-in-law, Hazel Nordstrum; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doug and Mary Ellen Lovett; and many special friends. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Nordstrum and Frank Nordstrum and his wife, Katie; brothers-in-law, Arnold Lovett and Bob Lovett and his wife, Barbara; and grandson, Mark A. Brooks. Stanley filled his retirement years as a handyman/fixer-upper for relatives and friends. He enjoyed fishing, was a lifetime member of Optimist International, and a St. Johns College honorary alumnus. A resident of Sunbridge Mission Manor since March, 1997, his family is very grateful for the outstanding love, care and concern given to him by all of the staff. Cremation has taken place. Honoring Stanley and Sis' wishes, no services will be held. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
