Obituary for Pollard

Shirley"Mitts" Pollard, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, died on Monday, November 8, in Cookeville, Tennessee. Shirley was born on May 22, 1923 in London, Ontario, Canada. She obtained United States citizenship. She graduated from Lindenwood College with degrees in economics and psychology and later married Neith James Pollard on December 5, 1945. For the majority of their married life, Shirley and Neith resided in Albuquerque and Belen. They recently moved to Cookeville. Shirley was active in Pilot Club and was involved in numerous volunteer and church activities. She enjoyed the outdoors and the beauty of the world. She dedicated herself to her family's happiness. In addition to her devoted husband of 53 years, her family includes daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela Jo and Dennis George and Patricia Lee and Rick Helmick and grandsons, Jason, Chris, Brett and Paul. A time of remembrance and celebration of Shirley will be held at the Crowne Royal Pyramid Hotel in Albuquerque on Friday, November 26, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
