Obituary for Edwards

J.R."Cheezie" Edwards, 71, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, November 9, 1999, at his home in Paradise Hills of Albuquerque. He is survived by his bride of 49 years, Alice; two sons, Jim Edwards of Abilene, TX and Steven W. Edwards and wife, Pam of Belen; one grandson, Tanner Edwards of Belen; sister, Bonnie Horner and husband, Bill of Claude, TX; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Cheezie was born in Cotton Center, TX in 1928. He attended school at Fort Sumner and Eastern New Mexico University. Cheezie was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from U.S. West and Mega Corporation. Cheezie was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, the Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple, and the Telephone Pioneers. He was also a member of Paradise Hills United Methodist Church. Cheezie, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m., at Paradise Hills United Methodist Church, 4700 Paradise Blvd. NW, with Pastor David Snyman officiating. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Brad Ahlgrim, Scott Ahlgrim, Chris Ahlgrim, John Edwards, Darwin Horner and Dale Horner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cheezie Edwards name to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, P.O. Box 8410, Albuquerque, NM 87198.
