Iva Sawyier, 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, died Monday, February 8, 1999. She grew up in California and graduated from UCLA. She sang professionally for many years in California, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota and New Mexico. Her beautiful soprano voice was an inspiration for hundreds. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife and friend."Her children arise and call her blessed." She was a member of many musical organizations through the years, and worked for many years for the Welfare Department. She was much loved and will be missed sorely. She is survived by a daughter, Marian; a son, Paul; a son, Edward; a granddaughter, Alice; a daughter-in-law, Nancy; her former husband, Bill; and her many friends. Services will be private. Contributions in her name may be given to the American Cancer Society. Cremation arrangements are provided by Metropolitan Direct Burial and Cremation Center, Inc., 601 Mountain Rd. NW, Albuquerque, 766-9400.
