Obituary for Howard

Thomas Jefferson Howard, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 17, 1999. Thomas was a resident of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho area for the past twenty one years. Thomas was born August 11, 1909 the son of John Franklin and Ella Scott Howard in Claysville, Pennsylvania. Thomas retired as a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy along with retiring as a Civil Service Radio Operator Instructor. He also retired as Manager of the State of California Unemployment Office. He was a member of the Royal English Air Force, N.A.R.F.E., Naval Fleet Reserve, and Sons of the American Revolution. Thomas and his wife were known as 'world travelers'. His famous statement was,"We're always on the go." Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Billie Knudson Howard of Rio Rancho; four children, Bernadine and Glenn Davis of Las Vegas, NV, William and Lana Lawson of Santa Rosa, CA, Donald and Bonnie Galloway of Grass Valley, CA, and Wayne and Penny Holly of Rio Rancho; one brother, Pete Howard of Auburn, CA; one sister, Sally Howard of Petulma, CA, Martha and Babe Rinehart of Farmington, NM; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Thomas was a member of the Hoffmantown Church. Cremation has taken place at Vista Verde Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
