Obituary for Torres

Jose Remijio J. Torres, 78, a resident of Belen and formerly of El Cerro, passed away on Tuesday August 17, 1999. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta. Jose retired from the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School after 21 1/2 years of outstanding service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary G. Torres and sons, Valentino Joseph Patrick, and Julian Ray Torres. He is survived by his 10 children, sons, Jose Elfido Torres and his wife, Ernestina of San Antonio, TX, David Torres and his wife, Ramona, Daniel"Hippie" and his wife, Patsy, Alfred Torres and his wife, Christine all of Los Lunas; daughters, Natalia Garcia and her husband, Esteven of Carnuel, Adela Gallegos of Los Lunas, Carmen Torres and Art Alvarez of Tucson, AZ, Gloria Armijo and her husband, Eloy, Dolores Torres and Mike Jaramillo of Belen, Antonette Torres and Rudy Gallegos of Vaughn; daughter-in-law, Gloria Torres of Los Lunas; 28 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Jose is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. A viewing will be held on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Graveside Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Joseph Torres, Jose E. Torres Jr., Dennis Torres, and Brian Torres, Steven Somera and Ernest J. Sena. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Torres Jr., Bobby Olguin, Ignacio Borel, and Robert Gallegos Jr. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM.
