Obituary for Howell

James Beno Howell, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since July 1997, died Monday, September 20, 1999. He is survived by one son, James B. Howell and wife, Lyn C. of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Chad Howell and John Howell; one brother, John Howell and wife, Darlene of Huntsville, AL; sisters, Numa McCoy of Vancouver, WA and Audrey Halstead and husband, Vernon of Portsmouth, VA; half-sister, Ruth Gilbert of South Hampton, VT; and sister-in-law, Virginia Chambers of Huntington, WV. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ruth C. Howell. Mr. Howell was born in Stuart County, VA on November 18, 1914. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a First Carpenters Mate on a Landing Ship Tank (LST). After the war, Mr. Howell became a principal of a vocational school, retiring from the public school system after 30 years of educating. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at Christ United Methodist Church, 6200 Gibson Blvd. SE, with Pastor Larry Castillo-Wilson officiating. Interment will take place at Mays Memorial Methodist Cemetery in Stewartsville, VA. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
