Obituary for Reva

Virgina McMullen Reva, a former resident of St. Joseph, MI died Saturday, September 11, 1999. Mrs. Reva was born in Chicago, IL to Patrick and Nellie Murphy McMullen on February 2, 1911. In 1929 she graduated from St. Joseph High School and graduated from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame in 1933. In 1941 she married Hermas L. Reva of Kalamazoo. In 1947 she received a masters degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. In that year, she and Mr. Reva moved to Albuquerque where Mrs. Reva has accepted a faculty position at the University of New Mexico. She began as an instructor in the College of Business Administration and progressed through the ranks until she became a full professor. During those years, she was granted several leaves of absence to work under the auspices of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Her workshops and seminars for employed men and women took her to 23 cities and ten countries in Central and South America. During those years, she also published some 25 articles in national educational magazines. Always an active public speaker and Catholic laywoman, Mrs. Reva received the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Cross from Pope Pius XII in 1954. In 1995 she was invested in Houston, TX as a Lady of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem is worldwide in scope and dates back more than 800 years. She was a charter member of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Mrs. Reva's husband and their son, Mark died many years ago. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Patrick J. McMullen of St. Joseph, MI, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends in this area. Rosary will be recited Monday, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE. Funeral mass is pending. Interment will be in the Reva family plot in Kalamazoo, MI.
