Dave A. Maestas passed at the age of 80 on Sunday, September 5, 1999, surrounded by his loving family and friend, Victoria Lucero; seven sons, David and wife, Joann, Albert and wife, Lindy, Steve and wife, Sylvia, John, Tommy, all of Albuquerque, Ray Maestas of Roswell, and Charlie Maestas and wife, Marie of Houston, TX; two daughters, Mary Montoya and husband, Danny, and Roseann Montoya and husband, Louie of Roswell. Also surviving are one brother, Fred Maestas of Alamosa, CO; 29 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren. Dave was active in AA for 33 years. Dave was a person who was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all. As Dave would say,"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, 9:00 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josette, Jackie, Margaret, Crystal, Raynalda, Tammy, Katrina and Loretta. Honorary pallbearers will be the rest of his granddaughters and grandsons.
