Obituary for Pena

Richard Jose Pena, 59, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away at his home in Los Lunas on Thursday, October 7, 1999. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Richard graduated from Belen High in 1959 and was a student athlete. He lettered in football, basketball, and track. He was well known for his athletic ability. He was a member of the Tierra Del Sol Country Club in Belen for many years and was an avid golfer. Richard played on golf courses all over the country, but was the happiest where he was playing golf with his two sons at Tierra Del Sol. Richard worked as an administrator in District Court for Valencia County until his retirement due to his illness. He was well respected in the legal community for his commitment and hard work. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Delfina; his father, Henry; brother, Sybol; and sister, Helen. He is survived by his sons, Christian and his wife, Jodie, Jason and his wife, Ragina; granddaughter, Brittany Vallejos and Gloria Pena; his three brothers, Eloy and wife, Tillie, Ray and his wife, Ingrid, Charlie and his wife, Diana; and sister, Corrine and her husband, Martin Padilla. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at Romero Funeral Home, recited by Charlie and Diana Pena. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 8, 1999, 9:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be George Trujeque, Richie Tabet, Leland Smith, Bill Baca, Desi Schollander, Jamie Goldberg and Andrew Feldman. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM.
