La familia de Clarinda Mares de Pena vivia originalmente en Porto de Luna, una provincia de Nueva Espana. Ellos viajaban hasta Galisteo y decidieron a parar porque ellos estaban cansados. Ya que la economia en Albuquerque fue mejor, la familia se mudo y establecida su residencia en al Plaza Vieja. Este sitio ahora es una calle llamada, Las Calles de Los Rios. Clarinda Mares y Emiterio Pena se casaron el 5 de mayo, 1918. Ella tenia 15 anos. Ellos pasaban su vida en la Plaza Vieja, crediendo su familia. Ella era una mujer que creia en su independencia. Los Pena tenian un restaurante porque ella queria su nuestro dinero. No queria depender de nadie para las cosas cotidianas. Clarinda Mares de Pena era una miembra orgullosa del American Legion y las Madres Cristianas. Ella era amada por su familia, murio en paz el 4 de octubre, 1999. Ella esta sobrevivida por su hermana, Amalia Aragon; sus hijos, Mary Pena-Noskin, Emiterio Pena Jr., Raymond Pena y Martin Pena; sus nietos y sus briznietos. Estaba precidido en su muerto por su esposo Emiterio Pena, y sus hijos Frank Pena y Martha Pena de Gutierrez. The family of Clarinda Mares de Pena, originally lived in Porte de Luna, a province of New Spain. After leaving Porto de Luna, they traveled until they reached Galisteo, where they decided to stop because they were tired. The economy was better in Albuquerque, so once more the family moved on and settled in the Old Town community. During this time, the river passed between the two communities of Old Town and Barelas, and because of this her birthplace happened to be Barelas, November 27, 1903. This site is now a street called Las Calles de los Rios. Clarinda Mares and Emiterio Pena were married on May 5, 1918; she was only 15 years old. They spent their life in the Old Town area, raising their family. She was a women who believed in her independence. The Penas owned a restaurant because she wanted to have her own money. She didn't want to depend on anyone for everyday things. Clarinda Mares de Pena was a proud member of the American Legion and the Madres Cristianas. She was beloved by her family; she died in peace on October 4, 1999. She is survived by her sister, Amalia Aragon; her children, Mary Pena-Noskin, Emiterio Pena Jr., Raymond Pena and Martin Pena; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emiterio Pena; and her children, Frank Pena and Martha Pena de Gutierrez. A Rosary will be recited this evening, 7:00 p.m., at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, located in the Old Town Plaza. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, 11:00 a.m., also at the church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be her grandsons, Nestor Pena, Gregory Pena, Michael Gutierrez, John Pena, Marty Pena; great-grandsons, Charles Martinez and Clayton Mullins.
