Obituary for Dabau

Mary Elizabeth Dabau, better known as"Betty", died suddenly in her home in Tucumcari, NM, Tuesday, August 31, 1999 at 10:30 p.m. Betty was born December 12, 1937 in Mosquero, NM. She is survived by her husband, John; two sons, Ralph Johnson of Amarillo, TX and David Dabau of Phoenix, AZ; two granddaughters, Sebrina Miller of Canyon, TX and Michelle Johnson of Denton, TX; great-granddaughter, McKinley Miller of Canyon; her mother, Myrtle Martinez of Palmdale, CA; two sisters, Angie Houston of Tucumcari, NM and Patty Alfred of Palmdale; a brother, Pat Martinez of Palmdale; many nieces and nephews; numerous relatives and a host of friends. Betty was Business Manager for many years for the Tucumcari Municipal Schools' Administrative offices. She retired from there and was Business Consultant and Business Manager for Logan Public Schools, where she had been employed since the time of her retirement. She was recently elected to the Tucumcari School Board. Betty was a member of the First Christian Church in Tucumcari. She was preceded in death by her father, Rafael M. Martinez; daughter, Cathy Jo Johnson; sister, Lila Jean Horton; and grandson, Michael Jay Dabau. Funeral services were conducted at First Christian Church on Friday, September 3, with the Reverend Jim Witcher officiating. Burial was in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery with Dunn Funeral Home in charge. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
