John R. Arthur, Jr., age 74, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Thelma Arthur in 1987; and son-in-law, Darrel Starks. He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Starks of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sons, John and wife, Sara Arthur of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Tim Arthur of Denver, Colorado; four grandchildren, D. J. Starks of Lubbock, Texas, Ray Starks of Hobbs, New Mexico, Jessica Starks and April Starks both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four great-grandchildren, Troy, Ashlee, Katelyn and Makenzy. He was a member of Sandia Baptist Church and a resident of Albuquerque since 1970. He was a member of Ballut Abyad Temple of Shrine, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Masonic Lodge, and the Shrine Band. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Ballut Abyad Children's Transportation Fund P.O. Box 8410 Albuquerque, New Mexico 87198. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 23, 1999, at Sandia Baptist Church 9429 Constitution Ave NE, with Dr. Robert Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE, in charge of arrangements.
