Obituary for Park

Anita Consuelo Sanchez Park, 77, died August 13, 1999, at University Hospital after a brief illness. Anita was born in Barney, New Mexico, to Alberto Flavio Sanchez and Natividad Romero Sanchez. She served in the U.S. Marine Cops during WWII, first as a drill sergeant and later as a sergeant coordinating troop transportation. Anita attended UNM, graduating cum laude in business administration in 1952. After graduation, she married David E. Park of Albuquerque and worked for the Bureau of Business Research. Later she worked for the UNM College of Nursing until retiring in 1976. She soon returned to work for a private business concern, retiring for the last time in 1986. In 1988, Anita and Dave moved to T or C and built a log cabin. Anita was well-loved and respected for her great generosity, kind heart, and hard work. She loved gardening, building their house, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Anita is preceded in death by her mother; father; and brothers, Malequias and Felix, and by her sister, Carlota. She is survived by her husband, David E. Park; her brother, Alberto Sanchez of Clayton; her sister, Veronica Martinez of Albuquerque; her son, Edward D. Park and wife, Deborah of Albuquerque; her daughter, Veronica P. Valencourt and husband, Joel of Ironwood, MI; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, August 18, at 1:00 p.m., at Faith Evangelical Free Church, 900 Southern Blvd., Rio Rancho, NM.
