Obituary for Neel

Mark C. Neel, 41, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, August 2, 1999 in San Diego, CA. He is survived by his parents, Ralph and Sally Neel of Albuquerque; daughters, Alyssa Neel and Kelsey Neel of Phoenix, AZ; grandmother, Mrs. W.A. Neel of Albuquerque; grandfather, Jose H. Nevarez of T or C, NM; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Karl N. Neel. Mark was very close to his family, especially his cousins. He was a very spiritual person, and loved music. He was a graduate of Rio Grande High School and attended St. Mary's of the Plains in Dodge City, KS. He was senior at the University of New Mexico, majoring in journalism and film. Mark was a very artistic person, his interests in music included being a composer and performer. He was active in the theater where he performed in many plays. Mark was a member of the CWA Union and the American Photographers Association. He was a member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 5:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Don and Gerri Marsico reciting. Mass will be celebrated Monday, 9:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5525 Fortuna NW, with Father Gene Greis, O. Praem, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Kye Chisman, Aaron Ferris, Carlos Nevarez, Anthony Nevarez, Quinn Nevarez, Noel Nevarez, Daniel Nevarez, and Deandro Nevarez. Honorary pallbearers will be Pearla Nevarez, Antonia Nevarez, Leah Jewell, Brian Neel, Sharon Chisman, Kenneth Martinez, Brenda Nevarez, Gail Nevarez, Leigh Cordova, Leisa Casaus, Tanya Lawrence, Brianna Nevarez, and Alisha Sanchez. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Sunday, 4:00 p.m. to time of Rosary.
